2009 BTCB National Taekwondo Championships, 2nd and 3rd May 2009, Manchester Velodrome, Manchester

Manchester Velodrome, (Stuart St, Manchester, M11 4DQ) is to host the 2009 British Taekwondo Control Board (BTCB) National Taekwondo Championship, which will be held on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd May 2009.

Taekwondo is Korean martial art that is practiced all over the world. It is a sport with a large following in the UK and it is a popular sport amongst people of all ages and men and women. A type of Taekwondo is also an Olympic sport.

Taekwondo matches at the Manchester Velodrome are scheduled over both Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd May, with Juniors and advanced Seniors competing on Saturday. On Sunday Child, Cadet and Novice Juniors and Novice Seniors will be competing. (This will be a seeded event for senior advanced players.) The details are as follows:-

Saturday 2nd May 2009 (All matches to be 3 x 2 minute rounds)

Juniors 2nd KUP and above (advanced)
Seniors 2nd KUP and above (advanced)

Sunday 3rd May 2009 (All matches to be 3 x 1 and a half minute rounds)

Child 8th KUP and above
Cadets 8th KUP and above
Juniors 8th KUP to 3rd KUP
Seniors 8th KUP to 3rd KUP

Manchester Velodrome is a great venue to hold this type of event. The building is home to The National Cycling Centre and is one of Manchesters newest and most impressive sports facilities.

If you wish to come along and watch any of the events, tickets are priced at £10 for Adults (16 years and older) , Under 16s tickets are priced £5 and children up to 4 years old are free.
