Manchester’s Urbis (Cathederal Gardens, Manchester, M4 3BG) is the city’s exhibition centre of city life. Urbis has teamed up with Image Publishing, BBC Radio Manchester and ConsolePassion.co.uk, to put on an exhibition called Videogame Nation which will run from 14th May to 20th September 2009.

VideogameNation is an exciting contemporary exhibition of videogaming over the last 30 years. The exhibition allows visitors to get hands on experience of a range of historical and more recent video games hardware and software.

The exhibition will run from 14th May to 20th September 2009.

VideogameNation is a celebration of videogaming, from its birth nearly 40 years ago to the present.
For older gamers this exhibition will be a trip down memory lane and younger gamers will see how gaming technology has changed over nearly four decades.

It is fitting that Urbis has decided to put on an exhibition of this nature. Manchester has been connected with computer development ever since Alan Turing, known as the father of modern computing, was based in Manchester after World War 2.

Videogame Nation will allow visitors to have hands on experience of different games / hardware such as BBC Micro, ZX Specrum and the Amstrad CPC.

It is also a celebration of the UK gaming industry and games such as Manic Miner, GoldenEye 007 and Grand Theft Auto will be on show at the exhibition.

However, please note that parts of the exhibition will be restricted to those over 18.

Although entry to Urbis is free, there is an entry charge for Videogame Nation. To find out more about Urbus in general and their Videogame Nation exhibition visit the venues website www.urbis.org.uk.
