Aviation Viewing Park (AVP) at Manchester Airport

The Aviation Viewing Park (AVP) at Manchester Airport is a very popular tourist attraction based near Manchester Airport. The AVP is one of Manchester’s top ten tourist attractions. It is located at The Aviation Viewing Park, Sunbank Lane, Altrincham, WA15 8XQ.

The Viewing Park provides is a great opportunity observe some of the UKs most interesting passenger aeroplanes, close up. The venue also has three raised viewing mounds which lets visitors view aircraft taxiing to and from the runways and landing and taking off from both runways.

For many people seeing Concorde at the Viewing Park might be the highlight of their visit, but here is lots more to see. The following aircraft are on display:-

Concorde G-BOAC - A new Concorde viewing hanger has been constructed recently. (Due to work taking place in the area surrounding Concorde, there may be a restricted view of the aircraft until the end of February 2009.)

DC-10 wide bodied jet (Forward section of a Monarch Airlines DC-10 aircraft only)

Trident (BEA Hawker Siddeley Trident 3B) - fully restored example

AVRO RJX - a great example of the last civil aircraft to be built in the UK

The Aviation Park includes a shop selling aircraft related memorabilia and gifts, and a snack bar, selling hot and cold snacks which you can take to the outdoor picnic areas within the Park.

    is there another viewing area at the other side of the runway ( manchester ) or at the end of the runway.
    on some video’s it shows the aircraft very close up when taking off.also some have been filmed at the very end of the runway.
    if so can you give direction by car.
