The 2009 John Smith’s Grand National will be held at Aintree Racecourse, in Aintree, Liverpool from Thursday 2nd until Saturday 4th April 2009. The Grand National is actually a three day sporting event with the highlight, the world famous Grand National horse race, being held at 4:15 on Saturday 4th April.

The good news is that Aintree is not too far away from Manchester and if you have thought of spending a day at the races perhaps now is the time to give it a try.

According to the course website tickets start as little as £19 on the opening day of the meeting and…

……… the Steeplechase Enclosure, open on Grand National day (Saturday) only, …. is a traditional element-embracing racing experience with a laid back dress code and a unique view of the first Grand National fences, from just £17 for adults and admission for children free.

The race is so famous that even people who don’t normally bet on horse racing have been known to place a bet or two in the Grand National. With an expected field of about 40 hourses competing over 30 fences the this is likely to be one of the most exciting horse races of 2009.
